Where are you going?
Do you have a destiny? Are you on the way to creating it, or has it found you already?
- Well, I don't have any particularly helpful resources to point you to here YET,
but while we're waiting for me to come up with something, why not try asking
the online Silicon Valley Tarot deck?
- When do you get to go to the moon? Note:
Be careful if you go shopping: the Lunar Trader site doesn't
believe in coming "Back".
How are you going to get there?
Not a W question, but it does matter. For now I'll just list some resources:
- *Getting Together: Building Relationships As We Negotiate*, Roger Fisher and
Scott Brown. I picked this up on my friend Darla's recommendation when I was venting
to her about problems I was having with someone in my family. Some of the points were
very basic (though it's easier to see various points than to incorporate/maintain them
coherently into one's outlook/practices), but I found the discussion of the limitations
of tit-for-tat (especially concerning biased perception and malignant spirals)
illuminating, and there were other good points about improving/sustaining relationships,
e.g., why to not try to buy better relationships, why to be unconditionally constructive,
checklists for evaluation and bases for dialogues.
- *The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People*, Stephen Covey. Some is roll-your-eyes,
but I remember getting some good out of it.
- *How Proust Can Change Your Life*. Combination biography, literary review, and
self-help book. Very funny in parts. Good points about memory, priorities, interacting
with people, etc.
