Sarah's Movie Page

It's been awhile since I took the time to review a movie (James Berardinelli is faster, prolific, and usually in line with my evaluations); this page is kept around more or less for posterity and for pointers. Maybe when I'm between jobs, I'll finally get to construct lists of my all-time favorites (such as 3 jewels from 1989: Bye Bye Blues, Crimes and Misdemeanors, and Enemies: A Love Story), guilty pleasures, and other categorizations of movies.

My On-site Reviews

My Other Reviews

The Internet Movie Database is massive, and contains some of my old posts to rec.arts.movies.reviews:
At some point I'll hunt for (I hope to avoid re-key) my 1992 Toronto Film Festival review, Bye Bye Blues, The Freshman, The Grifters, Havana, Ju Dou, Kindergarter Cop, La Femme Nikita, Narrow Margin, Navy Seals, Pump Up the Volume, Terminator 2, Torch Song Trilogy, Total Recall, Valmont (though I agree with Alan Jay's review in the IMDB), and the others.

Reviews I Wish I'd Written

  • Although I can't find all my reviews on the IMDB, at least I fared better than my favorite horror movie reviewer, The Phantom. I'm more squeamish than he is, but delight in some of his reviews. However, the only ones I've found on the IMDB are his reviews of Basket Case 2 and Flatliners.
  • Jason D. Corley (with interjections from the mysterious Ryan) wrote a stupendous review of the so-called Bram Stoker's Dracula. Maybe if Best Brains, Inc. hired them they could reverse the death spiral of the Satellite of Love. Oops, that's a Mistie reference in the middle of my movie page.

    My Tape Collection

    Not a complete list ...

    Curling?

Yes, there is a movie about curling! Stoney is a light-hearted spoof of Rocky I-V, produced by the Utica, N.Y. curling club. Unfortunately, the Utica club burned down in the summer of 1995. They rebuilt, but I'm not sure if any copies of the tape survived.
... Perhaps you were thinking of Men With Brooms, the Canadian movie, but I haven't watched it yet.
